Hello there,
Can you clarify again please to the people who have bought a front armrest that it can just slot into place without drilling?
I want to buy one of these but don't want to drill anything.
Looked on Ebay and they are £69.99 & £5.00 postage to buy. Does this seem reasonable?
Many thanks,
Darren

Hi DarrenE, I don't have one but there are a number of people wh have said that they will slot inand stay steady without being screwed down. With regards the price, contact John at Holdcroft (see Main Message Centre sub Forums) I belive that you might save £5.Hope this helps.Lj2.

It just drops into the hole. No need to drill, although that is no hardship should you choose to do so. All the [redundant] fittings apart from the drill and 10mm [IIRC] bit are included. Mine are in the glovebox.
Not sure about price. Got mine from the dealer at Cross Hands.

HI DARREN Eyes £70 is what they go for on ebay it is a nissan armrest yes not one of them copes fiting yes they just slot in nice and snug no need to ues the fixings or drill i sloted mine in the cup holder thingy in the back and its soundthe fixings are two rubber gromits that you would push in the two holes you would drillbut as i say and others on here will tell you theres no need to drill and useif its a nissan one your looking at cappuccino

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will need to drill 3 holes. I only know this because we had a dealer fitted armrest. Our car had to go back into the workshop due to the CVT gearbox being stuck in reverse (only had done 3500 miles). They had to remove the armrest and centre console to fix the issue (broken clip) with the gearbox. When we got it back we had a wobbly armrest. Rather than have all the hassle of going back to the dealer clever clogs decided he could fix it. After dismantling the armrest I found a screw missing that secured the centre console to the chassis. Screwed that back and re-assembled the centre console and armrest. The latter having three screws that screw into a rubber bush which has a brass threaded head. These locate in THREE HOLES drilled into the back tray. The screws when tightened squash the rubber bush and grip on the underside of the holes. I wouldn't let drilling the holes put you off, there are only three and you could easily make a template. You are only drilling into soft plastic. I would highly recommend having the armrest, as on long trips it is a godsend.....plus they do hold a lot of bits and bobs, mine has my lovely wifes perfume, her sunglasses, her notepad (for shopping lists) her pen, her make up, her spare shoes (i'm kidding) but seriously get one sorted its the dogs doodahs.

Snug fitting, no drilling, screws in glove compartment, just in case needed at later date.

Don't see the point in drilling unless or until absolutely necessary.

Thought about one myself, but does it not cover the two bottle holders?
I use a circular plastic container (actually a Pumpkin soup container from Tesco) in one of the bottle holders to hold my travel mints at present and I am wondering whether losing the square recess to mount the arm rest - which I use for my CDs - would be a good trade off.

Lightmonger you had the armreat fitted for the wife then? Are you allowed to rest your arm on it or is that also a no go area.

It only covers a bit of the rear bottle holder, the front one is completely un-covered.

Bakertech - only allowed to use the armrest when I use the car.....which is only when I get permission and all my chores have been completed. My wifes been training me for 35 years and says she's still got a long way to go. Gotta go now she needs another grape peeling

i might be persueded if i could see how it looks and the storage space sounds really appealing!!

You can just about see our armrest in a couple of the photos I took of our Juke in this thread:

Very pleased with it although you have to work out a technique for applying the handbrake!

Nah, SouthEastJuke, you just need to have your arm broken and reset to a reversedcapital "L" shape!!

Having made that rediculous remark about the resetarm, I would like to add that if the handbrake operated after only some 3 or 4 clicks, rather than more as it seems need now, it would be very helpful.

I had an armrest and used it for a couple of weeks but as I had the seat fully back (long legs) I just couldn't get a comfortable grip of the handbrake. Even when the arm rest is in the upright position my elbow would be obstructed by it.

Ebay came to my rescue (I got a good price for it). I'm much happier now without the armrest and glad I hadn't used the fixings (which aren't realy necessary as it sits tightly in the rear holder).
