I know from experience that driving a Juke is guaranteed to turn at least some heads, but this week I've come across a phenomenon that's now happened three times in as many days.
In short, it's the 'boy racer' who's desperate to take you on at the traffic lights — particularly if you happen to pull up at a red light in the outside lane. It's almost as if they suddenly feel threatened by the DiG-T badge and have to reassure themselves that their car's still faster.

Out of sympathy and a desire to conserve fuel, I usually wave them forward.
I'm thinking of putting a sticker on the back window that says, "Just overtake and give me a break" (which I have no problem with if they can catch me!).

I remember once when I was about 19 in my mk1 Escort, another one pulled up along side me at the lights started revvving, so I revved a bit nudged forwards revved for the change of lights as did he and as they changed I sat there and he roared off, at the next set he was fuming with me I was still peeing myself , thought it was so funny back then

When I had my Elan I had every boy racer under the sun wanting to race. Similar to you Deks I would egg them on, they would get all excited that it was "on!" as they lights changed they would roar off and I would turn left
Miss on seeing they face though

It's something that happens if you drive anything with a bit of go in it. I got fed up with chavs when I had a 3.0 BMW Z4 roadster, it was no match for a 1.2 Corsa with lowered suspension and a bean-tin exhaust....
