Having aquired another set of 17" (7J) alloys for my Juke, I'm trying to locate some chunky 4x4 style tyres. However, like winter tyres at the moment, there's few available off the shelf (other than top brand/top price flavours).

According to wheel/tyre configurators, I could fit up to 255 wide tyres on my 7" rims (the standard ones being 215) Has anyone fitted any wider tyres than the 215 (or does the 4WD have wider tyres?). I need to know ifwider tyres would snag on brake pipes/cables etc.

Cheers, Martyn

Managed to get hold of some Yokohama Geolandors from Black Circles in 225/55 size, so I'm sure they should fit ok. The reviews available on the net seem to give them excellent ratings for snow performance, and less good for wear, but since I'll only be using them in winter, wear is not too important, and no doubt the trade off for good grip.
