Hi All,
Am new to the forum and based in Rainham, Kent.
I am considering buying a Nissan Juke. I currently have a Vauxhall Astra Twintop but have had so many problems with it I think it's been in the garage more than I have had it, so time to trade it in! Just want to go for something smaller and cheaper to run.
Is a Juke a good choice? The garage are recommending that I should buy the diesel version as it has 6 gears. Any view on this?
Am looking at the top of the range Tekna model possibly in silver. Does it look daft with a red centre console or is the car and leather styled inside to match the red or silver centre panel? Also how common is the pain problem I've been reading about in some posts?
Also, sorry about all the questions, but does anyone know a dealer online (or a website online) offering good deals on the Juke? I can then print it out and haggle a bit more with my local dealers.
Thanks alot,
Keith

Does not look daft with the RED </font>console if the outside is RED </font>as well. So buy RED </font>, you know it makes sense. It seems most jukes are suffering from the paint problem, mine is very minor at the moment.T

Keith if you can spare the time pop down to Herne Bay I will run thru the Juke for you
paint issue will affect all Jukes until Nissan sort the problem that is a guarantee
fuel consumption maybe an issue for you on the Diesel as depending on you journey type it may not live upto what you expect, would not have the n/a petrol myself as I feel the gearobx(5 speed) is awful
as for online dealers just search the net people say offers are out there but the Juke is in demand and commanding list price these days

oh btw welcome to the forum

Thanks all. Deks thanks alot for the offer, am very tempted. If I'm coming into the area I will PM you on here and see if you are around.
It's just the paint issue which is putting me off. Last thing I want is to have a new car in and out the garage like my current one.
Thanks again,
Keith

If you are buying a new one it is possible issue will be resolved and rectified before yours reaches production, last contact I had said they had done modification tests but my contact didnt have results
think I will chase up on this actually, its a one fix solution if it occurs or at least it will be when they find the fix, don't let it put you off the car is worth owning promise

Welcome KP. I had the Tigra before Juke and had endless problems with that! As the others have said, I also have the paint problem, albeit minor at the mo. Hasn't took the smile of my face from owning the Juke though. I agree aboutthe 6 speed. I test drove the standard 1.6 model and to me the 5 gears didn't quiteseemenough.

Haptic DiG-T Tekna is the way to goDiesels suck at best of times I thought it was to noisy. 1.6 NA is a bit limp but still a good drive DiG-T is almost same mpg as the NA petrol and much more fun to driveI didn't like the red centre console but you can't choose red in Haptic blue!
You really have to see Haptic in the flesh as every picture of it makes it look a different colour and it looks purple under yellow street lamps!!

Funny, Iv'e heard a few bad reports on Vauxhalls, but I've had my Zafira for almost three years now, and never had any trouble with it, before that. I owned a Corsa and an Astra, again no trouble what so ever, must have been lucky I suppose. Anyway, it's good bye Zafira, hello Juke on Sept 10th.

Anyway, welcome to the forums, hope you do decide on a Juke, but it may not be as good on fuel consumption if you go for the 1.6 Turbo, compared to your Astra. Unless you do lot's of milage. you won't save much by having the diesel, as it will cost you £500 more than the 1.6 Petrol and with diesel about 6p per litre more than petrol, you will need to get at least 15,000 under the bonnet before you break even on the running costs. The only fault with the bog standard 1.6 is not having a 6 speed box, which would improve mpg and cruise at lower revs for a given speed when in sixth gear. But the decision is yours. The Red Juke imo, is the smartest colour with the red interior. But if its Silver you want, with red, I am sure the tekna leather seating will be a good match.
Good luck on your price search.

Hi Keith

I only had my brand new Astra twintop for 15 months as it went back to the garage 18 times in that period. Lovely looking car but what a lemon. Mileage on the diesel juke in comparison for me is slightly better (I do 10 miles on an average journey combined and get 48mpg). I have tekna and the spec compared to the Design (also had leather in that) is I think better and you dont have to look at the immediate mpg figures on the console - that was a right eyesore. The red interior is wow factor and looks great in all the colours Ive seen - Not seen haptic blue or machine brown. I dont find the diesel noisy and its lovely and smooth and rather nippy. Its a great car. Heading towards my 3 month without any problems - well only the one - What excuse can I find today to go out for a drive.

Hi Flynn,
Sounds like your Twin Top was worse than mine!! The pain was the local twin top specialist was 40 miles away from me. My local dealers only told me that when I had problems! It has been back for a creaking roof (which they said they wouldn't do under warrantee until I phoned head office), banging window when driving, window making noises when going up and down, electrics not working, roof not opening, boot not opening and a bit more as well!
As you say a great looking car with leather seats etc, but they just dont work as they should! My sister in law also had one and it just leaked all the time.
On the plus side just went and had a look at the Juke, was impressed. Offered £8k for my Twin Topbut the dealer had no idea about the paint problem and said no one at all has complained at his dealership about it.
Going to take out the Diesel and Petrol 6 gear versions for half a day each tomorrow and see how they go. Any views on diesel or Petrol?
Thanks again for all the views,
Keith
