Tomorrow is THE day!
I am picking me baby. And I will be handing over my old car. I am planning to hand over the service history. I was wondering whether I should cut off the address, name & telephone details on the invoices..... What do you guys think? Thanks Juke me |

I did that meticulously with my trade in, no harm in being careful.

I could understand you wanting to cut details off if they included for example your credit card or bank details, however if all it's got is your name, address etc, I'm not sure what harm they could come to.
Or am I missing something?

I agree with REDMEAT. The details are on the V5 so the next owner will have them anyway.

I know the address is in the V5...
For some reason, I wanted to contact the previous owner of this car. Just to check whether I could get any clues for some problem I was having. I couldnt get hold of thier phone number after trying a few times. Come to think of it (now) I can understand if someone does not want to hear about thier old car once it is gone. (That guy wasnt avoiding me or anything, dont get me wrong). Thanks guys... Juke me |

Always supplied full service history of old cars and never had enquiries from the new owners and we see those cars still about. They can see how well the cars have been cared for by the history and the condition of the waxed bodywork and clean engine bay.
Even when I had Company Cars they were treated as if they were my own.Only hand washed no cars wash places.

It's your choice, personally it never worried me but no harm in doing it either. As you've said I always make sure to destroy credit card receipts rather than passing them on. If a new owner wants to contact me about one of my old cars that wouldn't worry me especially.

Wouldn't bother me one bit if the new owner wanted to contact me.
In fact when I used to run used cars, I found it useful to be able to contact the previous owner to verify mileage etc. Not that I'm suspicious of cynical you understand. ![]() |
