Been looking at getting a Tekna, but can't believe how close the prices for a Nismo RS are - why is this???
I understand it requires premium fuel and insurance will be more, but what's the hidden costs of owning this car? Is it ridiculous on fuel, tyres - would appreciate any advice from current owners before I take the plunge.
Currently own a BMW M sport convertible and fancy a change, I would fully recommend this car to anyone as it hasn't cost a penny to maintain apart from oil changes - so any advice on the NISMO RS would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
I just swapped my BMW 123d convertible that had Media, Comfort and Winter packs for a Juke Nismo with similar spec. I think it's awesome and I'm really surprised after 3 BMWs in a row.
For me the 0-60 in both cars on spec is the same but I really notice more turbo in sport vs the BM so the feeling when accelerating is quite different. I suppose as the BMW is 2ltr vs the 1.6 Juke the turbo has to be bigger to compensate. The Juke is shorter than the 1 Series but feels bigger from the inside.
It's only been a couple of weeks so I can't say about tyres but insurance was actually about £50 less for the year and petrol is about the same mpg, although I've gone from auto diesel to petrol manual.
There's a way more advanced sat nav with speed camera alerts and touchscreen instead of the stupid BMW iDrive wheel. The Juke actually announced a burst water pipe today and to avoid the road by name just because I was in the area, very cool.
A huge downside are the reversing cameras and no audio beeps. Tonight was raining hard and the screen was just showing me rain. I'm now thinking about getting Dolphin parking sensors fitted but I'll happily pay the extra few hundred quid and make this work than swap back.
My local Nissan garage's website says they go round the car using a camera in the service and talk through recommendations etc as if you're standing with them so I'm actually looking forward to the first service to see that. Service is £225 but receipts from a garage out of London that came with the car shows service was £149 each time with nothing gone wrong so far at 25k. My local Nissan garage also has a specialist sports team, one of only a few Nissan garages in the country so I think it will be much better looked after than any of my Bimmers ever were.
Let us know if you make the swap!
