I've just had my first service at the 12,500 miles required for Dig-T and the garage reset the 'Miles to next service' indicator, which was great, but it still counts down to 18,000 which is the requirement for the non-Dig-T engines. Not a problem yet as my grey matter can probably keep track on its own, but I'm not getting any younger and this may be a stretch later
.Before I bother asking the garage, has anyone had this changed, is it even possible?
Tread carefully if you're a long way over the 12.5k, technically that's your engine warranty gone bye-bye if you're more than 500 miles over the service interval.
I would call your dealer and have a discussion over why your service interval was set incorrectly and if I were you I would be looking for written confirmation that Nissan's error won't affect your warranty cover in case something happens a year or two down the line. Edited by: John_C
I was told 18,000 by my dealer and my car counts down from 18,000 too (except when you remove the battery and it resets itself.
3000 miles to go then, I'm going to get in trouble for over stepping my allowance
I don't understand how so many dealers seem to be getting something so basic and so important wrong. I guess 12.5k is a very short service interval these days so maybe that's confusing them, still no excuse for something which could hurt the residual value of the car and invalidate the warranty!
Mine was fine until I put it in for the turbo bracket recall. When I got it back it read 18,000. As I'm very unlikely to do more than 10,000 miles in a year I haven't bothered to take it back to the dealer (especially as it's a 50-mile round trip!)
It may be because you can only get the 1.6 Turbo over there so there's no variation between cars.
Also the service intervals in the states are different, 3,500 miles or 3 months for the first change then 7,500 miles or six months thereafter.
There seems to be a massive thing over there with a lot of people changing the oil really frequently even if the manufacturer gives longer intervals and they can get really, really intense about it too, it's like an automotive religion to some people.
Thanks John and LJ2, I'll get it fixed then next time it goes in
